setting affinity to only one (or two) CPUs= too little impact for me. It seems that the game is NOT using DirectX8 and it’s better using the 9 one.

d3d8.dll in the game folder = game worked A LOT BETTER but there were no flaming arrows and sometimes the terrain texture was white or black. I am reviving this thread in order to help out some more on the performance of the game.

Excepting virtual environments or where you trick the software into adapting if its limits are not hard coded. Once we breach 128-bit architecture, the 16 bit games will no longer work at all just as the 8-bit no longer work at all under 64-bit operating systems. This basically adds in the code to the exe that allows it to read memory from left to right rather than right to left and opens broader pathways to memory access by doubling what is already available as perceived.

Just to note, 32-bit programs do not see more than the first three digits and only 64-bit programs truly can use four digits.

Ironically, it was designed to allow programs to access more than 3GB of Ram because of the 256 MB restrictions of 32 bit programs. 16-bit programs only see the first two numbers so if you have 2 Gigs which is 2048 MB, the program actually uses those 2 Gigs as it sees it as only 20 MB. Sorry I was being lazy! LOL That also pretty much explains it so I do not have to as well though I will give you a bit more info for the heck of it! It is for any older program that gets slower and slower as you use it due to unconstrained memory usage without it realizing what it is asking because you have more than two digits represented in Ram.
